Crazy week. I don't think I said much about it last week.. But we were in a trio for a week! Working with our District Leader Elder Piedade! It was cool. We were getting a lot done because we could talk to more people and had more members to go see. It was crazy! So it was a great adventure but a lot of work. Really satisfying. On Wednesday we had another trio split! With Elder Wilson from our group. His companion, Elder Kgwetiane is the new district leader so he went into London to be trained. So Wednesday we got to get a ton of finding in and met a lot of really good new people. Elder Wilson is a really cool missionary and he's hilarious! From Canada haha. Friday and Sunday we got to see one of our most promising investigators! And we were blessed because on short notice we found a member willing to go and we had great lessons. The investigator has made loads of progress since we brought the member and even wants to come to church on his own now! Before he wanted to wait before he got through his trials but because the member was so supportive he wants to meet other supportive members. Great miracle! On Sunday we worked a lot with children! We were invited into Primary to just sit and watch over the kids to make sure they behave and be a good example and next week we're doing sharing time! Little kids are really funny. Then we got to have a dinner appointment and taught the kids about the gospel by having them jump on stepping stones! It's a lot of fun when they want to learn and can be active. Today we're going to Rochester Cathedral and the castle there! Should be a good p-day! Moves next week! So I'll be emailing on a Tuesday. Elder Jespersen
Sorry this is short. Running out of time. This week has been crazy. We got stuck in a trio on Tuesday because a missionary got sent home! So we covered three areas! And then today we went to London and gave our third companion to Watford zone leaders so we're back down to two missionaries and back down to two areas. But it's all good! It was a crazy adventure and one I'll never forget! Learned a lot because he was our District Leader (speaking of which we are currently without one so President has to call a new one soon haha) Anyway, it's been a blast. I'll tell you more next week! Plus pictures.
Elder Jespersen This week has been great and extremely fast! We've been rushing around to try and see everyone and the time just flies. But the one highlight of the week was that we got to go to London on Friday for a Zone Conference! It was the longest Conference ever. It lasted almost all day... But it was a great one. We learned all about making sure to be anxiously engaged. Without being anxiously engaged we don't get much accomplished. Okay so imagine the scene below- two fish bowls and one of the fish is jumping to the other fish bowl .......................................... ..................xO...................... ............................................ ...;::::::::::::;........;::::::::::::;..... ..;:::::::Ox:::;......;::::::::::::::;...... ;:xO:::::::::::;.....;:::::::::::::::;.... ..;:::::::Ox:::;.......;:::::::::::::;.... .....;::::::::::;............;::::::::;.... .............................................. In the first fish bowl the fish felt to crowded and bored and not getting anywhere. He was just going in circles and following the crowd. So he took a leap of faith and jumped to the other bowl where there was new opportunities and a new adventure! Now sometimes we don't make it to the other bowl but if we have the Lord on our side He'll move the bowl to catch us. As missionaries sometimes we get stuck thinking we have to do everything in the same way, like finding and teaching people. But that's not the case. It doesn't work for everyone and so it's up to those who have a brain to take the initiative and make the change to find success. The Zone Conference was really good because I was feeling like I was in a rut. But that's only because I wasn't thinking of new things to make new success. Now I'm ready to tackle the work with renewed vigor. Hopefully all that made sense. And it doesn't just go for missionary work. Anything in life is the same. Not much to talk about! But we have been having a blast, Elder Caluag and I, trying to figure out our massive area. It's going well. To make things more complicated we are all, as a mission, reading the BoM within four months and so we read from the BoM a lot because we have to read a ton. So any free time is sucked up by that.
This week we've fasted twice. The first to start the New Year and then again starting on Sunday for an investigator of our whose parents are against her being baptized. She's turning 12 pretty soon and she wants really bad to be baptized and she has a ton of support from the members so we're really trying to work to help her parents see how important this is. So we fasted for them to let her do as she desires. We haven't heard anything yet but we're hopeful! Today we went to the White Cliffs of Dover! It was fantastic. Great fun. But maybe I'll talk about it next week. We have an appointment to get to! So crazy I don't know where to begin. So it starts on Friday when I DROVE to London for transfers. It was a nightmare. So much traffic and crazy things happening. But it was an adventure! But I've decided I'll just get a motorbike when I come back. I picked up Elder Caluag! He's in my MTC group and we've had a blast ever since. He was in my first District and I had splits with his 'father'. He's hilarious. And I just got him from a previous companion of mine; Elder Brunstad! Cool stuff. The next day we went all over our new area (Rainham) because they merged our area and the area Elder Hristov and Zarse were. So our area is now twice the size because they haven't put new missionaries there and we also have two flats and double the people to go see! It's hard to stay on top of it all! Monday wasn't our P-day because they gave us New Years as our P-day (because most the libraries close on a holiday they allowed us another day to email) and so Monday night we had an intense FHE with an awesome family and got to role-play with them being missionaries! And then we played a crazy memory game and Elder Caluag and I ended up tying because we couldn't beat each other. Wednesday - NEW YEARS!!!! - Elder Caluag and I started with playing in a massive game of football with the two Gillingham wards and a couple other people. It was crazy fun and in the freezing rain. Then we got to play chair football with some missionaries in Canterbury! Well good.
Overall it's been a crazy week to ring in the New Year! But it's a fresh start and time to have a brilliant 2014! HAPPY NEW YEARS!! |
