So this week'll be short. But things are going great. On Tuesday (which every English person pronounces "chewsday") we got to meet with our new Ward Mission Leader! It was really cool. He's got some good ideas and he's ready to work hard. Wednesday we had a good day beginning our work in one of the villages nearby. A place called Teynham. We actually had a lot of success there and a lot more people were willing to talk to us. We even got a new investigator that day (even though he is skeptical God even exists.. He's a ex JW.. So it'll be a battle to get him to feel the spirit.) and a lot of people who referred us to their neighbors haha. Thursday we had a similar day, again in Teynham after our District Meeting. Friday we spent practically the whole day in service close going around and helping with moving furniture and moving a family and setting things up. It was a crazy long day. And then at the end we met with one of our tough investigators who wasn't progressing too much and we FINALLY got him to commit to come see how our church service was! I think the fact that Elder Everitt and I were going to be sharing our testimonies and experiences in the meeting helped though ha. Saturday was a good old miracle day. We had 4 hours of time on the island to go and see less active members and we really wanted to see a lot of them. So we prayed as hard as we could that we would see them at the time they needed it. We got to see 5 different families and share amazing spiritual experiences with them all. One right in the middle was the best because we knocked on her door and it was at the ONLY time in the whole night she would've been able to see us because her partner who was very against the church was out for a minute or two and we were able to pray with her and set up a time to go back. She was very touched by the miracle and was crying by the time we left. It was fantastic. Sunday there was a baptism after church of a little member. It was crazy. There were tons of people and we didn't get out of the building until 4pm!!! But all in all great week. Yesterday was interviews and the was even better. It's always good talking to the President. He helps with a lot.
This week has been pretty slow. The weather is getting colder and wetter. We heard we'll get snow tomorrow so that should be pretty fun. There's nothing really crazy to share I guess. The week has been alright. It's my first time staying in an area with the same companion. It's interesting! OH! We taught at a college on the island! Swale Campus, Canterbury College. It was pretty fun. We went in not really knowing what to expect.. We planned to share with them the message of the restoration and then have them ask questions. When we got in there I introduced who we were and when it came to Elder Everitt to talk about what we'd share he blanked for about 30 seconds.. I jumped in a said "Hey, we're not perfect. We've never done this before.." and everyone started laughing! Including us. It was a pretty funny start. Then they started asking questions right away about missionary work and such and that of course led right to what we wanted to share and Elder Everitt and I found our words and were able to teach! There were 16 women there and a bloke. The age range was from 16 to 40 so it's was pretty cool to hear some of their questions. We were able to answer them all and even joke around and have fun with them. It turned out way better than we thought and at the end one of the girls even said we changed her mind about Mormons. What made it even better was that we had a less active YSA in the class and she even piped in and shared her testimony of a few things. Today we had a flat inspection. We passed with flying colours haha. That's about it. Not much to report. It has been a good week though. It was MOVES CALLS yesterday! And guess what!!! Nope. I'm not moving haha. I'm staying and so is my companion Elder Everitt. We get to continue our work in the blessed land of Sittingbourne and the Isle of Sheppey. It has been a pretty good week nonetheless.
Monday we got to have a posh FHE with a really cool family (whose mum is actually in California right now!) and we played a couple really fun games. And before that we got to have a Mexican/American member make us genuine Mexican burritos which were well good. On Tuesday Elder Everitt and I got to teach a ton! We met a few new people as well and it was just one thing after the other of great lessons (And a great dinner). Wednesday we got to finally go to Ward Council and meet with all the ward members on the council. It hadn't happened all transfer til then.Thursday was our last district meeting with the district of the transfer! It was fun as well and I got called on to give a gap training! And if I haven't told about gaps.. They're two minute roleplays to train us. Saturday was a great football match and we made quesadillas for some members! We also had a posh tracting session and met a ton of new people and set up to go teach them other days. Today we finally got our haircuts. And now we'll be studying a ton because we get to give a presentation to a college tomorrow morning. It should be a pretty good finding tool. Monday evening was pretty cool; we got to sing on a less actives doorstep! With a member we had with us. It wasn't planned. But I think it was really nice for the woman we were seeing. It was pretty fun! Tuesday we got to paint a members' ceiling end Elder Everitt ended up getting paint flicked all over himself. His badge got flecked with paint and we called it a galaxy badge (Mine was like it before but I accidentally threw it in the wash and it got cleaned.). Then we had some bacon sandwiches which I might have to make more often! Wednesday - I FINALLY SAW THE SEA. I've been here forever and I finally saw a bit of the sea. It was lovely. On Thursday (HALLOWEEN!!) we thought we'd go tracting on a random street for fun because it was Halloween and we wanted to see what would happen! But we ended up choosing a horrible street and talked to a few elderly people :P Then we went to youth and got some Halloween snacks from the young women and tried to get our investigator to come but he just played a prank on us for a Halloween trick.. But we had a really good conversation with one of our members because of it. She was a fantastic missionary! She studies preach my gospel daily and wanted to do anything she could to help in missionary work! We even gave her a few missionary supplies. She even texted us on Sunday night asking if she could go to any appointments we had. We tried to see a less active but ended up tracting because that's what she wanted to do! And then on Friday we saw a 14 year old girl who was a fantastic missionary as well! She kept asking us to share a scripture and tell her how she could teach from it. She wanted to help her father to become a little more active in the church. Saturday we had a 2 HOUR long football game. Non stop. It was great! I had my new football boots and could finally run. It was a great game. This week has been a really good week. I've learned a lot about the area and how I can help it. I'm so grateful for my privilege to serve as Gods missionary. The Lord is really calling to hasten the work. It is his time and members all need to rise to the call. I invite you all (whoever reads this haha) to invite one of your friends to come to the next church event you have. And then email me and tell me how it goes! |
